Dear Dr. Sumner: I was discouraged by the way Major Brian Venables of the Salvation Army in Canada, brian_venables©can.salvationarmy.org treated me when I called him on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 to inform him of my concern that the Salvation Army church in Kensington, are allowing Garner Ted Armstrongs former group the Church of God International to use its church. He began attacking me saying, Look James, you dont know what youre talking about. Your research is tainted. Youre reading their material all wrong. I was offended by his actions and his lack of concern that the CCI is unorthodox. It didnt faze him one bit that the CCI denies and attacks
in print Christian ministers and our precious doctrines, including
the Salvation Army doctrines. My last questions, before he ended the conversation, were
how can you, Dr. Read, and others in good conscience claim that
the CGI is orthodox, that I am wrong on their teachings, when
they have numerous unorthodox teachings, attack Christian ministers,
Christian symbols i.e. the fish, stating as one minister did
that the fish symbol is pagan, it implies fertility. They (Christians)
think its a symbol of Christianity. All theyre doing
is perpetrating the SEX SYMBOL OF VENUS (Our Holidays! All Bad?
All Good tape 0261). I asked Major Venables what about the other doctrines the CGI attacks and denies? He did not answer, he simply said, I must do the Lords work and that was it. Many other Christian doctrines as you know are attacked and denied. sent enough information to the Salvation Army to show that the CGI and the UCG do not represent orthodox Christianity. Shame on Major Venables for his remarks and his unwillingness to look at the evidence. Shame on Dr. James Read to say all is well with the CCI unorthodoxy. Very respectfully in Christ, James Kieferdorf |
