June 24, 2008 - Many of you know that an extraordinary healing revival has broken out in Lakeland, Fla., led by Todd Bentley. Unfortunately, there are some who have criticized or opposed this revival…. Dr. Peter Wagner made the suggestion that some of the leaders of the Revival Alliance network, commission Todd as an evangelist and as a revivalist. Bill Johnson, John Arnott, and Che Ahn (three of the leaders of the Revival Alliance) have agreed to come for this special commissioning service. This is not an ordination service, since Todd is already an ordained minister, but this is to show apostolic support for Todd and to state that this revival is from God. So what is the Revival Alliance network?

Several major charismatic ministries known for stoking revival around the globe have joined together and created an organization aimed at world evangelization.The newly formed Revival Alliance officially launched in March during a conference at Harvest Rock Church in Pasadena, Calif., dubbed Releasing the Supernatural. Ché Ahn, senior pastor of Harvest Rock and co-founder of Revival Alliance, said he believes global transformation is possible if revivalists from large existing ministries link with smaller, lesser-known ones.

The idea for a network of revival-based ministries stemmed from a prophecy given by apostolic minister Bob Jones to Rolland and Heidi Baker of Mozambique-based Iris Ministries. “[The alliance] seemed to come together effortlessly,” said Rolland Baker, a co-founder of the alliance who credits Ahn as a major impetus. Things formed “simply because we like and enjoy one another, and not just because we all have large ministries.”

Bill Johnson: He is promoted by the Elijah List; He heads up the ‘School of Supernatural’ ministry, and is a close associate of Patrica “we all have wings and can fly” King, for a start. John Arnott: Head pastor of the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship where the “Toronto Blessing” originated, (See: The Toronto Deception By a former Toronto Vineyard Pastor - and QUOTES FROM ARNOTT AND OTHER THIRD WAVE LEADERS, HERE) he was kicked out of the Vineyard Association for being too heretical, is a Promoter of “Catch the Fire Soaking Prayer Centres”.
Randy Clark:a disciple of Rodney “belly up to the bar” Howard-Browne; It was Clark (who had already experienced strange phenomenons in his church) who preached the revival sermon in Toronto that ignited the whole movement. The Revival has since spread like wildfire, especially in Vineyard and Charismatic circles, and in recent years has penetrated all kinds of denominations. Link here
Heidi Baker: Also promoted by and involved with the Elijah List, and Patrica King.
Peter Wagner: Head of Global Harvest Ministries with their office in the World Prayer Center in Colorado Springs, USA. He is the leading person in the new movement for Strategic Spiritual Warfare and Joel’s Army,( Joel’s Army & The Day of the Lord) which originates from the sect The Manifest Sons of God. He is a proponent of Dominionism & Word of Faith Doctrines; He believes and teaches: the Government of Gods kingdom will be established through the apostolic and prophetic authorities in cities and nations; that a new signs and wonders movement is coming which is significantly greater than what was seen in the days of the post World War II healing evangelists. Part of the fruit of this movement will be healing centers which will be built around the world devoted to praying for the sick and casting out demons. So what is my point?

Well I’ll tell you. The point is what possible “commission” (or stamp of approval) can these people possibly hope to give to Todd Bentley and his false extra-biblical teachings and/or the Lakeland event, when they themselves have ALREADY been participating at Lakeland, and have been and are involved ‘to the max’ in so many of the false movements floating around themselves? What average Discerning Christian is going to change their mind about this on the say-so of these false prophets and teachers?

What this should show any bible believing Christian is that this entire ‘third wave’ movement, falsely attributed to God, is coming about by these so-called “Apostles” fulfilling their own prophecies.

To commission: To grant certain powers or the authority
And what would those powers and authority be comprised of, where did they get them, and who are they to give it out? FOR IT IS CHRIST who has all power–IT IS CHRIST who calls, anoints, and grants any and all things today, through His HOLY SPIRIT. And it is CHRIST who Todd Bentley or any of us, should be concerned about receiving approval from–not man.

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:11)

Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. (Revelation 5:12)

Is this laughable? It is. But it also shows the pride which inhabits these people who believe they can meet with someone–in this case Todd Bentley, and like a group of Kings “Knight” someone with a ‘commission’ to “go forth”…The audacity of these Folks, who Bentley refers to as “Generals” leaves me speechless. Its pitiful…
