UCB THE FIGHT BEGINS TO KEEP IT OFF THE AIR
UCB Who Are they?

July 16, 2000 - [Source: The Belfast Berean News - http://www.belfastberean.co.uk ] United Kingdom.

UCB are an international and 'interdenominational charity' who 'cross' all community groups and have representation from all organised Christian religions. They have offices in Belfast, Dublin and various other parts of the world. Their European studios are located in Stoke-on-Trent, and they have 'large' support in Britain and Ireland. The UCB radio station began in the 1980s when the present managing director, Mr Gareth Littler,
campaigned in Parliament to bring about freedom for Christian radio. He petitioned Parliament with 273,000 signatures - and succeeded in obtaining a satellite licence. However, a clause was added to that Broadcasting Act to exclude any religious body from broadcasting nationally. The Minister responsible for the Act was Mr David Mellor which has prevented Christian music radio stations from obtaining a licence to broadcast on ordinary radio ever since! UCB began broadcasting in May 1993, on satellite, and it continues to do so.

However, in 1997 it was refused even an application for a licence. It is not even allowed to apply for a licence because of the 1990 and the more recent 1996 Broadcasting Acts. UCB took legal action and advice from Baker and MacKenzie, a top law firm in London. David Pannick QC, one of the most highly respected barristers in Britain, gave the opinion that the refusal to give the UCB an application form for a radio licence was a breach of the rights given to all under the Human Rights Convention, and a denial of freedom of expression, freedom of religion and freedom from discrimination. In the Good Friday Agreement, in the section entitled "Rights, Safeguards and Equality of Opportunity", the parties affirmed "the right to freedom and expression of religion; the right to pursue democratically, national and political aspirations; the right to equal opportunity in all social and economic activity, regardless of ... creed". This action by UCB is continuing through the European
Court of Human Rights, and the outcome is awaited.

'UCB' WHAT CHRISTIANS SHOULD KNOW!

UCB are putting up a aggressive fight to get the law change, [see above article on UCB] so they can peddle their 'ecumenical-user friendly gospel' in the UK, looking to the "godless" Northern Ireland Assembly who are strangely in full support of UCB, and the message they proclaim. [Makes you wonder?] However some Christian groups are very concerned about UCB, their message and the path they are taking to achieve their goals and those whom they have teamed up with or promote. Some believe that UCB have already sold out the gospel replacing it with the false but appealing 'Christianity' from America that entertains and tickles the ears of its listeners, and is guaranteed to bring health, wealth, success and popularity to all that adhere to it!

Many are afraid that UCB will end up very much like the heretical 'Dream Family Channel', with its full diet of 'Word Faith' teachers, 'Money Preachers' and fake 'Faith Healers' whose practices and teachings have been exposed by many. [1] UCB are not afraid to use many of the tricks, tactics, doctrines and practices of the totally discredited American TV evangelist 'Word/Faith' preachers in a bid to raise money, draw support or to stave of criticism.[2]

UCB make the strange claim that "doctrine" divides and so they avoid any issue that might upset or drive away the listener. UCB freely admits "we do not take a particular stand....we do not attack doctrinal issues which divide be it.... Marionology" [3] and UCB see no need to reproof, rebuke or exhort any of its listeners who may be caught up in religious deception. The truth however is that UCB are very wrong, standing for and proclaiming true doctrine does not cause division in the Body of Christ, but proclaiming and allowing false doctrine to go uncorrected does. [Romans 16:17-18].

UCB promote a false ecumenism, as well as the error ridden 'ALPHA COURSE' and 'MARCH FOR JESUS' as if nothing were wrong, even though many that take part in this 'March for Jesus' have a different understanding of whom 'Jesus' is and what his death on the cross accomplished. The question which is being asked by many is what 'Jesus' are they marching for? Is it the 'Jesus' of Catholicism who is offered as a sacrifice for a kill on
Catholic altars at every mass for the 'sins' of the world'? Is it the Mormon 'Jesus' who is the half brother of Lucifer? Maybe it could be the Charismatic 'Jesus' who could of sinned, and never claimed to be God? Or
Could it be the 'Word-Faith Jesus' whose death on the cross did not atone for sin, but instead was dragged into hell by Satan and tortured three days and three nights were his emaciated, poured out little wormy spirit
was born again?

The 'Alpha Course' comes from the Holy Trinity Brompton, London which is a church that is a Bedlam of doctrinal error, ecumenical compromise, and Toronto style charismania. The main goal of the 'Alpha Course' is to lead the unsuspecting pupils on the 'weekend away' into the world off the occult with the 'Toronto Experience' of being 'slain in the spirit', which has been traced back to Hinduism and the New Age Movement. [3] In their
'Daily Devotions' book 'WORD FOR TODAY' UCB are often found freely promoting the counterfeit "health and wealth gospel" whilst referring to many extreme and unreliable Charismatics, who define and defend this false gospel. The idea that a Christian should suffer, be sick or even suffer persecution is unheard of within the "health and wealth" gospel. [4] Alan Morrision of [Diakrisis] addresses this very issue of 'Daily Devotional
books' claiming "....the vast majority of professing evangelicals would rather read "devotional" booklets [rather]..... than a 27,000 word article which seeks to purify the church by unequivocally exposing prominent
"Christian" leaders as occultists and false teachers. The irony is that these daily devotional booklets often pepper their daily devotionals with quotes from the very "Christian" leaders to which I am referring! Such "Daily Bread" is hardly manna from heaven, but operates in the same manner as rat poison. Rat poison doesn't look like rat poison. It is usually wholesome grain secretly coated in Warfarin. These booklets are a highly effective way of drip-feeding the poison of Neo-Evangelicalism into the churches. And they come free of charge!"

UCB style of ministry conforms its listeners to the world rather that transform them to Jesus Christ. By stealing the historical language of the faith, pouring new meanings into that language UCB then present themselves
as the successful face of evangelism. Incredible as it seems UCB,just copys the world or should I say counterfeits the world dressing it up in a thin coat of Christian 'talk'. UCB has its very own "Christian Top 20
Show" and "Country Music Slot", as well as a "Golden Oldie Slot" we need not fear as we can hear "Christian Rock Music", "Christian Hip-Hop", "Christian Reggae". It doesn't even end there either as programs like
Independents Day which brings the listener the "cream of the unsigned bands", and what Christians do without "Coopoid's Sanctified Dance Club" with Andy Cooper? To top it all off on Saturday you can listen to the "UK
Contemporary Christian Music Chart Show" with Martin Purnell. We hear on UCB those who are opening or promoting 'Christian Pubs' and 'Nightclubs', how long do we have to wait to get a 'Christian Casino' or a 'Christian Brothel'? Another problem is that Celebrities popular with the world like Cliff Richard are promoted to endorse Christ; thereby they entice multitudes into a false Christianity because the world and the church now
have the same role models!

Just who are UCB trying to kid? Do they really think they can pass this nonsense off as the 'faith once delivered to the saints'? We Bereans are not that easily fooled, but those professing believers who are biblically illiterate are. Many of today's believers found within the mainstream churches are biblically illiterate, ignorant of doctrine, practice and Church History. One will find they know more about soaps, footballers, films and pop stars, and are totally undescerning as to truth and error because their leaders have condition their minds to accept everything they teach, and to question nothing. Some might appeal that there is some good on UCB and we should concentrated on the positive rather that the negative. Can one really turn a blind eye to the error? I am somewhat reminded by a dear brother who pointed out to me that there is over 99% wholesome food in RAT POISON but it still KILLS!

Another problem is that UCB is made up of 70 percent music, much of which sounds no different that secular radio stations such as Cool FM, MTV, Radio 1 or Alantic 252. Indeed many unbelievers mistakenly think that UCB is indeed a secular radio station, and become rather suprised when told its "Christian". We have much empty, repetitive wordly sounding songs which have taken the place of the old hymns of the faith. The new breed of praise and worship songs such as "We worship you, Lord, we praise You, Lord, we lift Your name on high, we lift our hands, we exalt You,"..etc, are not the praise of God, but rather the 'praise of praise' and the
'worship of worship' because those that sing such songs are according to Dave Hunt [The Berean Call] are "oblivious of the fact that of instead of truly praising and worshipping, they are merely singing words about praise
and worship, without mentioning God's character, qualities, and deeds which evoke worship." [5]

Finally in a desperate attempt to stave of criticism and affirm that UCB are wholly Christian Ann Boyd of [UCB] makes a desperate appeal to Eamon O'Neill [Culture Arts & Leisure] a Roman Catholic who has 'researched'
UCB out, and to the "clever men" in the 'Northern Ireland Assembly' who unanimously support UCB in their efforts to get a licence. Ann then points to UCB's large 'mailing list' and 'support' found within many of the
churches in Northern Ireland for UCB/ALPHAas proof they are the genuine thing. The truth however is that to test whether UCB is Christian or not one must examine them in light of Scripture, and this I am sure neither
Eamon O'Neill or the 'Northern Ireland Assembly' have done, and they are not in the position to do either! UCB never at any time attempt to appeal to the Scriptures, but instead because the godless 'Northern Ireland
Assembly' support it, and they have a large mailing list that makes everything above board and ok. NOT SO!.

Sadly it gives us no pleasure to announce that UCB is itself a Bedlam of doctrinal error & ecumenical compromise in which they present a message that looks and sounds like the real thing, but is nothing more than a
cheap counterfeit.
