ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) 9/12/02- Ruth Bell Graham, wife of evangelist Billy Graham, remained in serious condition Wednesday for weakness and infection, a hospital spokeswoman said. Graham, 82, entered Mission St. Joseph's Health System on Tuesday, the third time she's been hospitalized since early August. Graham has been in fragile health for several years. "She is having a better day today," said spokeswoman Merrell Gregory. Two of Graham's five children, Ned Graham and Gigi Tchividjian, have visited her, Gregory said. Graham was treated for pneumonia in early August. She returned to the hospital later that month suffering from dehydration and side effects of antibiotic therapy. She was also treated for a possible intestinal infection. Billy Graham who has legally been [receiving] his full salary and other benefits as CEO for the last five years is unique in his special privileges in his non-profit religious organization as no other employee in the Billy Graham Evangelistic Organization other than Billy Graham is paid a full one hundred percent salary and is allowed to spend fifty percent of his time in bed or at the hospital. Billy Graham doesn't work 100 % of the time and isn't entitled to a 100 % salary.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" / Billy Grahams Salary for 2000 GuideStar's has database of more than 850,000 IRS-recognized nonprofit organizations and provides on the web financial statements and IRS form 990 which became law in 1997. Form 990. Part V List of Officers and Directors 2000 gave the
following information: It's the law of the land that all non profit chairman of corporations must reveal their total salary and that Billy, Ned and Franklin do not, speaks volumes .., especially considering the fact that the Tampa Tribune reported: Although Billy Graham encourages religious leaders to be open about their salaries and publish their finances. Not good enough, says Paul Nelson, president of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability in Washington. Revival Ministries International is not among its 925 members. "When you hold yourself out as a public trust, it's just good practice to be open about your finances," he says. "If you're not forthright, you leave a question in the minds of your potential givers." For the past five years, the ministry has been audited by
Katz & Kamm, a Baltimore accounting firm. But the tax-exempt
church association is not required to open its books to the public.
`While I applaud them for getting the audit, I would strongly
suggest they go one step further and make their records public,"
Nelson says... Dear Scott Wiebe, I do not believe charitable Associations in Canada are obligated to publicly declare the compensation directly supplied to an individual employee, but I would think they will be able to provide you with a financial report that will give you a fair indication of their compensation expenses. WELL YOU MUST ADMIT THAT BILLY GRAHAM IS NOT JUST AN ORDINARY EMPLOYEE? HE IS THE CHAIRMEN OF BILLY GRAHAM EVANGELISTIC ORGANIZATION. THE RULES FOR REPORTING THE TOTAL COMPENSATION OF A CHAIRMAN ARE DIFFERENT THAN THAT OF AN ORDINARY EMPLOYEE? YOU WILL ADMIT THAT BILLY AND FRANKLIN GRAHAM ARE MEN OF INTEGRITY? HENCE IF PRESIDENT CLINTON AND PRESIDENT BUSH HAVE RELEASED THEIR PERSONAL INCOME TAX TO THE PUBLIC THERE IS NO REASON WHY BILLY AND FRANKLIN GRAHAM CANNOT DO THE SAME THING? Is your statement "I do not believe charitable Associations in Canada are obligated to publicly declare the compensation directly supplied to an individual employee an indication that you will not reveal the total compensation of Billy and Franklin Graham?" Isn't this very dishonest on behalf of an organization that claims to have integrity? You will admit that other employees of your organization don't have the same benefits that Billy and Franklin Graham have? MIND YOU FRANKIN'S REAL COMPENSATION AND PERSONAL USE OF HIS COMPANY PLANE IS STILL A REAL PROBLEM TODAY AND NED GRAHAM'S PROBLEMS HAVE PROBLEMS "Total Compensation" is more than your basic minimum salary. It includes everything including housekeeping, servants, cars and other perks. For Southern Baptist Billy Graham it includes the support staff and nurses who provide him with 24 hr care at his home!.. .. no other employee in the Billy Graham Evangelistic Organization other than Billy Graham is paid a full one hundred percent salary and is allowed to spend fifty percent of his time in bed or at the hospital.
