Dear Kittie,
Thank you for your letter, which we received February 6 along with your request for a comment on whether; George Bush is a Christian. We apologize for the lateness of this reply, but our volume of mail as well as our backlog of the same shows no sign of diminishing.

We do believe that George Bush is a genuine believer. We also recognize that he is also not that old in the faith and has had some doubtful influences in his Christian growth. Recently the Public Broadcasting System aired a documentary on the faith of George Bush. Their purpose was to alarm people with his "fanaticism," but a certainly unwilling consequence was the communication that he did indeed have a saving encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are concerned that you list Texe Marrs as a source for your conclusions. Texe Marrs's work is rather sensational, and his recent books continue to follow that vein. Mr Marrs in recent years has shown an increasing tendency to promote Replacement theology. He is not alone, as a number of mainline denominations have long taught that the Church has replaced Israel.

Replacement Theology does indeed teach that the church has totally assumed Israel's role, something which is in direct contradiction to the Word of God (Jeremiah 31:35-37).

Both Dave and Tom are increasingly busy. To the monthly newsletter, correspondence, and weekly radio broadcasts, ongoing audio and video projects, one may add a growing number of outside speaking engagements. Your prayers are certainly requested.

Thank you again, and may God encourage and strengthen you in these days.
