Clinton's Earthquake Relief Church Talk

NOTE: This church is a forerunner of what faith-based churches are going to look like. Steve Hill was advertised as others like him who teach Revival.

Charisma Magazine - February 27, 2001 - CLINTON SPEAKS AT CHURCH FOR EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
Former President Bill Clinton will be the guest speaker at a California church fund-raising effort for the victims of the recent earthquake in Gujarat, India. Clinton is to deliver the keynote address this Friday at the Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose.

New Age guru Deepak Chopra, featured by Larry King, as author of a new book: How To Know God, will also speak at the event, which will feature music by M.C. Hammer, who is a pastor at the church. Senior pastor Dick Bernal hopes that together with proceeds from a similar event earlier this month, the evening would raise around $3 million toward disaster relief needs. "We want to do what we can to help the people who have been displaced, and the orphans and the widows," said Bernal, who visited the country this month with Hammer for a series of evangelistic meetings.

The fund-raiser is being supported by members of the Indian-American community in the Silicon Valley area. Donations are going to UCA for India, a nonprofit organization supported by churches, charities, community and civic organizations. "This occasion not only marks the beginning of the road to recovery for India, but also demonstrates how the greater Bay Area can get behind and support people in need," said Kailash Joshi, president of the group that founded UCA.

Example of a Type of Future Faith-Based Church

What we have going here is Mormonism. I recognize the game. LDS members get to participate in their list of businesses and services for advantageouss prices. The businesses and services are members of the church. You will seldom see a Mormon in the usual stores. They patronize their own membership if at all possible. Mormons create peer pressure on those who do not comply with these expectations. Do you realize what the implications of this type of system are? No wonder Senator Ashcroft wanted "joining the church" to enjoy the services as part of the law "Charitable Choice." Secular businesses are going to find themselves up a creek with half the country in the Republican camp, the religious right. Below is just a partial list of what was on this Jubilee Christian Church's website. Click on the popup box and see the list. Notice the list, like Mormons, only tithing members get to participate in this. The church is dictating to businesses how to conduct themselves and patrons how to be good little boys and girls.

The purpose of the Jubilee Christian Center Business Directory is to:

  • Encourage the congregation to utilize the skills and talents of the Christian professionals within the church.
  • Encourage patronization of Christian businesses that are committed to furthering God’s purpose by tithing.
  • Provide a channel by which the congregation can choose to do business with Christian professionals in every area.
  • Encourage the growth of all Christian businesses.
  • Strengthen, edify, and unite the body of Christ.

The business owners listed in this directory:

  • Conduct their businesses in a manner that is fair to both buyer and seller.
  • Charge fairly in relation to the products or services provided.
  • Expect prompt payment for products or services rendered.
  • Are tithing members of Jubilee Christian Center.
