November 21, 2005 (CBS 13) SACRAMENTO The Catholic faithful
are calling it a miracle. So they're bringing their cameras,
their rosaries, their children and grandchildren to an otherwise
quiet church on the outskirts of town.
"To me, personally, it is a miracle. You believe it or
don't believe it, that's okay. But I strongly believe it",
says Sacramento resident Andre Nguyen.
It is ar the Vietnamese Catholic Martyrs Church, that an outdoor
statue of the Virgin Mary appears to be shedding tears of blood.
Tears that stream down her face onto her robe, testing the faith
of all who come.
"I think that at this time in history, in terms of what's
happening in the United States, what's happening in the church,
that this is possibly a sign", says Sacramento Resident
Brenda Harris.
Parishoners first noticed the tears of blood on Wednesday.
But fearing they were put there by pranksters, a priest here
wiped the statue clean, only to have those tears return over
the weekend.
The church has now contacted the Catholic Diocese in hopes
an investigation will be launched. Many are so convinced it's
real, they weep.
Ky Truong, who does maintenance at the church says he saw
the tears rolling down the statues face around 8:30 Sunday morning.
Like most at the church, he sees it as a call for prayer.
CBS 13 tried to contact the Catholic Diocese in Sacramento
to determine how cases like these are investigated, but their
offices were closed today.
The church is located at 10371 Jackson Road.

November 21, 2005 - A Sacramento-area church is drawing the faithful
and the curious for an unusual sight that some are calling a
miracle.
- In front of the Vietnamese Catholic Martyrs Church on Jackson
Road stands a statute of the Virgin Mary. The figure appears
to be crying tears of blood. The tears streak down the left side
of her face and onto the bodice of her garment.
- Church parishioners first reported seeing the red teardrops
last Wednesday.
- Observers are interpreting the phenomenon in various ways.
Some say Mary is crying for all of the tragic events in the world.
Others see it as a premonition of what the future holds. The
more skeptical wonder if it is all a hoax.
- The church is located at 10371 Jackson Road in eastern Sacramento
County.

but are ignored by the critics:

- * Specialists in psychotherapy, medicine and theology, who
have had frequent access to the visionaries testify that they
are perfectly normal and balanced, their investigations ruling
out alternative explanations such as play-acting, make-believe,
auto-suggestion, dreams, hypnosis, catalepsy, hallucination,
hysteria, or manipulation of clergy. (the results of the most
recent tests were made available in April and December 1998,
and are reported in the St James Parish Bulletin of June 2000)

- * Cluster bombs were dropped all over Medjugorje during the
Bosnian war, but not one bomb went off. Pope John Paul II called
it a miracle of God.

- * By the age of 11, Jakov Colo, was abandoned by his father
and then orphaned of his mother in the early days of the apparitions.
His wordless testimony to the apparitions was very powerful at
the time, his face in ecstasy being something that could not
have been conceivably have been faked.

anything that bears fruit. We cannot yet recognize the supernatural
character of these apparitions, but neither can we deny them."

confirmed this position, since the responsibility to investigate
the apparitions was removed from Bishop Zanic's Commission in
1986 and given to the Yugoslav hierarchy, which now no longer
exists as a result of the break-up of Yugoslavia.

- Medjugorje has seen countless of conversions and the return
to the faith by many thousands of people, as well as miraculous
healings. I think the devil would be mighty upset about that!

- To come right to the point, taking just one sentence from
Marissa's email, "Actress Lola Falana was cured of Multiple
Sclerosis following a visit to Medjugorje," Marissa wants
us to believe that Lola was healed by the Virgin Mary. If the
healing came from God through Mary, are we not making the Virgin
Mary and the Holy Spirit equals? Mary is dead in the ground according
to the Bible as the rest of the dead until the Second Coming.
Are we not taking away the glory from God, the Holy Spirit? Can
we substitute any dead human being with God? Mary was a virgin
but under the same curse as the rest of the world. Mary received
the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and was saved but her body is still
waiting to be resurrected. Her spirit is not roaming around the
spirit world.

- The statues that have been created by human hands supposedly
replicas of the Virgin Mary, differ in looks world wide, i.e.
some are black Virgin Marys. The statues are idols that the Bible
talks about a great deal. Idols are distractions. Idols take
people's minds away from the Word of God and what it tells us.
The Word of God represents God the Father, the Son and the Holy
Ghost and their power to heal us by the sacrifice Christ Jesus
made on the cross. That is what healed us and took care of the
sin factor. God wants us to put our energies there not on pilgrimages
to visit a statue. Even if it looks like there is life in some
of these statues, it is nowhere mentioned in the Bible that a
statue can have a life of its own. There is a similar occurrence
in the middle of the Tribulation when the False Prophet makes
an obelisk seemingly come to life. He makes it talk, making people
think that's a miracle from God and consequently they will take
the mark of the beast Are we not being pre-conditioned that this
phenomena is of the 'Signs and Wonders' taught in the Bible?
