When we have the righteousness of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, we are out of the grip of our enemy, Satan. It is throught the CROSS AND THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST. Let us see how Satan is our accuser in a court scene in heaven. This is show to Zechariah in a vision where he sees Joshua the high priest standing before God Satan is the prosector to oppose Joshua. As high priest, Joshua is the highest religious auothority but he does not escape the accusation and condemnation of our eternal enemy, the accuser of the brethren Satan is so bold. God incarnate, Jesus Himself, was confronted by Satan. Please read from your own Bible (Zech 3:1-8) God commmands angels to remove the filthy garments of the high priest and God provied him with splendid robes and a clean turban (renewed mind). God cleanses his inquinty and provideds garments of righteousness. Notice how God is a complete control of the chaos and vindicates the high priest. Satan is defeated. On the personal level, we can see that the righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed/ credited to you as a believer of Jesus. Jesus did this by dying on the cross and shedding His own divine supernatural blood. (2-Cor 5:21). This rihgteousness of Jesus is free to you & me and at on cost to you & it me, but it was very costly to Jesus because it cost Jesus His very life. The broader implication of this scene is that God Himself is cleansing the Church. Later on, close to the 2nd coming of Jesus Chirst, God will cleanse Israel and cause the Jews to accept Jesus as Messiah. This scene of the disrobing a person of his unsuitable clothes and providing him splendid garments reminds me of the restoration of the prodigal son by the father. The son is given special clothes that only family members wear, shoes, which are privileged to be worn only by the family, and not by servants, and other Symbols of authority. When you recevie Jesus Christ as Savior, you become a member of God’s family and you are very privileged as an heir. As an aside, in the history of Indonesia when it was under Duch Colonial rule, ordinary people (indigenous people/natives) were not allowed to wear shoes or any from of footwear. Shoes were worms by the privileged ruling class, the white Dutch masters. Only the educated people including the rare Indonesians who made it to Dutch school wore certian types of clothes (western suite). These are fact in the history of a nation. Now let me take you to anther exciting scene. This is the taking up of Elijah to heaven by a chariot and fiery horses. As requested, Elijah threw his anointed mantle to Elisha as Elijah’s inheritance. Elisha tested the mantle and truly its stored anointing split the river Jorden. The ascent of Elijah to haven is a preview pointing to the ascent of Jesus to heaven. When Jesus went up to heaven, He left to His follwers, as our inheriteance is the robe of His righteousness. The amazing fact is that we are sinners and we do not deserve anything. We have not done anything worthy to deserve this wonderful blessing and inheritance. Yet it is given free of charge to you and me. The price was paid by our own Lord Jesus with His life. So this righteousness is very, very precious to us. Thans and God bless you all. Ev.
